“I want people to know. I want it to be huge.”
Michael Nelson, owner of Nelson Technology Partners, has organized a Relay for Life team and is asking for your support to honor is friend, who recently passed after a 6 year battle with kidney cancer.
A January 2013 interview with Michael:
My neighbors and I have always been close. We’ve known each other for over 10 years. In fact, they moved in 30 days after my wife and I moved into our neighborhood.
We’re the kind of neighbors who can walk into each other’s house to share a cup of coffee or a beer. We are a part of the family. We are family.
For the last three summers, we’ve shared summer vacations together. Our vacation this past year was awesome. It was at Holden Beach in North Carolina. And even though we knew Charlie wasn’t doing too well, he was there with us. This past year was the hardest year in his battle.
For the last six years, my friend and dear neighbor, Charlie was suffering with cancer. And this year, he passed away. It crushed me.
Had I known it was the last one…the last year, the last summer vacation, all that mushy stuff – basically it comes down to the fact that I lost someone – and I want to do something about it.
So, I’ve keyed everyone up so that we could so something.
He was part of Relay for Life and so we’ve created a team and are doing our best to make a positive impact!
We’re doing a lot of fundraisers. I want to make sure that we’re spreading the word, that everyone’s aware that we’re trying to fight this thing. Everyone is touched by cancer.
Losing somebody so close and so dear – it’s hard.
I want to try and do what I can for this team, for this Relay for Life.
I want people to know why who’re doing it, who we’re doing it for –
Our goal is 2K and I want to far exceed that!
